Magazine of Virginia Genealogy, Vol. 31, No. 4, page 349, Wills of Burns Counties – Will of James Sheilds Sr. of James City County, VA, dated 7 September 1794 and probated 13 July 1795. Sell my Island joining Pine Point ____ land in York County proved of Tarpley’s executors now depending in the Court of Hustings. Executors to make a proper title to Thomas Lawson and John Ratcliffe for the land I sold them. To wife Rebecca Sheilds six slaves for her lifetime and my land known as Pine Point and that was bought from Cole Diggs. Divide rest of estate between Mary Coleman, Susan Allen, John Page Sheilds, Page Sheilds, Ann Taylor, Christian Brown Sheilds, Ester Sheilds, David Minge Sheilds, Henry Sheilds, Juda Bray, English Sheilds, Matthew Wyatt Sheilds and Thomas Lawson Sheilds. My son, James Sheilds, 5 shillings as he has already received a full portion of my estate. Executors: Sons, John Page Sheilds and James Sheilds and Benjamin Waller and John Pierce.
