From the account records of the College of William and Mary – Lot No. 4 – In April 1790, David Lawson was leased the 142 acres in this lot. This was renewed in the names of Elizabeth, Alexander Lawson, William Lawson and John Lawson on 6 April 1791. In 1798 this lot was leased to Benjamin Timberlake and in 1804, Henry Timberlake acquire the lease from Benjamin Timberlake. On 6 January 1820, the College of William and Mary conveyed to James Fox, 420 acres, which land was called Lawson’s in the tenure of Henry Timberlake, by Wormley’s land, now James Fox’s Queenfield, Thomas Fox’s land now Feleming Mitchell, Yancy Lipscomb’s now sold to Daniel Ellett, by the main road from Hanovertown to Brandywine, thence along the road by Gideon Bosher’s land to the said Fox.
