John Stone both which dividends of land was granted to Col. John Walker by Patent bearing date 16 April 1668. Belinda	5-6 Nov 1695	Richmond	Richmond County, VA, Order Book 2, 1694-1699, pages 99-100, Court dated 5-6 November 1695 – Thomas Parker as Marrying Belinda Pursell brought his action in this Court against William Jenkins, Executor of Martha Stopford, deceased and declares that the said Martha in her lifetime did contract and agree with the said Belinda to make a thorough cure of a certain sore leg that Henry the son of the aid Belinda was afflicted with, in consideration whereof the said Belinda did pass her Bill unto the said Martha for the payment of 700 or thereabouts, of tobacco, but that the said Martha in her lifetime in no wise regarding her said Agreement nor the performance of the said Cure so by her undertaken did wholly neglect the same and at the time of her decease left the said sore as bad, if not worse, as when she undertook it whereby the said Complainant was forced to be at great charge and expense to make the said cure, and therefore in fact saith that he is Damnified and damage hath sustained to the value of 1000 pounds of tobacco and therefore craves Judgment together with cost of suit; And the said William Jenkins comes into Court and pleads Not Guilty in manner and form; Wherefore the Sheriff of this County or his Deputy is commanded to summons 12 good and lawful men of the Vicinage to try the matter in issue who being impaneled and sworn by name, Ralph Whiting, Thomas Lewis, John Rankin, William Sims, Francis Suttle, Daniel Jackson, William Amon, Avery Nayler, Peter Evans, Thomas Newman, Charles Snead and Thomas Bradley brought in this following verdict, We of the Jury find for the Defendant, which verdict the Court do confirm and do dismiss the said suit with costs alias Execution.

Nevertheless one Joshua Lawson clandestinely and unknown to the Petitioner got him, said Thomas Parker, bound by this Worshipful Court, and since hath and doth still use the boy after an inhumane manner by tying him up by the arms and whipping unreasonably, pinching him, also both of diet and cloths and permitting a woman whom he keeps to use the boy after a barbarous manner so that the boy is almost at death’s door as in the Declaration is set forth. The said Return is admitted to Record and it is as follows; “In Obedience to this Attachment, I have attached as the Law directs, to a parcel of unscripted tobacco, to one mare, given under my hand this 14 November 1739, Henry Sisson.” It is therefore ordered that the Sheriff of this County make sale of the aforesaid Mare as the Law directs and after having so done to deliver the attachment tobacco and what the said Mare shall be sol for unto the said Gilbert Hamilton and Richard Lawson in part of satisfaction of the above Judgment.

We whose names are hereunto subscribed being empanelled did obedient to an Order of Richmond County Court 7 March 1742 met upon the land in Controversy and proceeded to lay of the 100 acres of land claimed by the Plaintiff as by the Surveyors Report hereunto annexed may appear and then also at the desire of the Defendant we laid of the said 100 acres as by the Surveyors plat and report. We find a deed from William Loyd to Andrew Boyer bearing date 1 July 1688 by virtue of which said Boyer was then seized; We find a Deed from said Boyer to Joshua Lawson dated 2 November 1687 by virtue whereof said Lawson became seized; We find a Deed from said Lawson to William James bearing date 6 December 1710 by virtue said James became possessed and that afterwards the said James conveyed the same to the Lessor of the Plaintiff by Deed 17 June 1720 who entered and is thereof possessed. We also find Deeds of Lease and Release from William Lawson, son and heir of Joshua Lawson bearing date 5 and 6 October 1731 to the Defendant, all which are annexed. Also 2 cows and calves, one heifer of 2 years old, one young horse of 3 or 4 years and her saddle she now rides on, 4 sheep and the best bed and furniture in my house, 15 pounds of pewter. Item – My will and desire is that my executors hereafter named to sell all my land and plantation whereon I now live for the best price they can and the money arising thereon to go to the support of my daughter Ann Lawson as my executors shall see most fit during her natural life and that my executors do execute deeds for that purpose to the Purchaser or Purchasers thereof and that the remainder of the money if any after the death of my said daughter Ann Lawson be equally divided between the rest of my children or their legal representatives. Item – I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Redman one young Negro wench call Hannah and the said Negro wench Hannah should breed the increase of her that is to say her children should be the property of my grandson Thomas Lawson Redman before mentioned and the said Thomas Lawson Redman should die without a male heir of his body lawful begotten then the said land and Negroes to be divided equally between all my male grand children. Item – I give unto my grandson Elijah Moore one Negro boy called Harvey. Item – I give to my son Richard Lawson 100 acres of land in Gloucester County together with 2 Negroes by name Dinah and her son Solomon to him and his heirs forever. Also the feather bed I lie on together with the furniture thereunto belonging and the increase of the said Negro Dinah. Item – I give to my daughter Rebecca Sisson Dobyns a bond of John How’s due me from the said How, amounting to 300 pounds of tobacco, which I propose to deliver immediately to her husband Mr. Thomas Dobyns. Item – I give to my daughter Bathsheba Allison 2 negroes by name John and Winney, the feather bed she has always lay on when living with me and the furniture there unto belonging, also one cow and calf chosen by her or some person deputed for her. Item – It is my will and desire that my wife Mary Lawson shall be amply and decently supported out of my Estate, so long as she shall live. Item – To my niece Rebecca Allison, so long as she may live I give the use of the following property to wit all that part of the tract of land which I now live on, lying on the North of a line beginning at the mouth of the branch between my residence and John Garland’s and running a southwesterly course till lit strikes the main road leading from the mouth of Totuskey so as to include at the very least all the mannered lots adjoining the said road together with all the houses, garden, orchards and other appurtenances attached thereto and the 3 following slaves, viz. Job, old Easter and boy Jerry – the bed and furniture she usually lies on and a small bed and furniture which she made for the children, her choice of either my sorrel or bay horses, two good cows, one yoke of oxen and cart and wheels, half a dozen such chairs as she may choose, one good walnut dining table and one of the smaller size, one half of all the pewter, 2 iron pots, two such disks and 8 plates as she may choose, one frying pan, one tea kettle, half a dozen china cups and… At the death of the said Rebecca Allison all the Estate (or such of it as shall not have worn out or be destroyed by time), which I have given her the use of during her life, I give and bequeath to my daughter Betsey Dobyns and to her and her heirs forever. Item – It is my will and desire that old free Judy the wife of my fellow Bradley should be permitted to remain on and occupy the small house and have the use of so much land as I have heretofore permitted her to cultivate near the said house for and during her life. Item – All the residue of my Estate of what nature or kind so ever both real and personal I give and bequeath to my aforesaid daughter Betsey Dobyns to her and her heirs forever. Fabius, Benjamin & Claiborne	1 Feb 1827	Richmond	Revolutionary Pensions – Application filed on 23 February 1827, in City of Richmond, Virginia, by son, Fabius Lawson, heir of deceased soldier. He was allowed 200 acres of bounty land on Warrant No. 1225, on account of the services of his father Benjamin Lawson, Lieutenant, Virginia Line, War of Revolution, 1 March 1827. Also indicated Benjamin was the brother of Claiborne Whitehead Lawson.
Fabius, Benjamin & Claiborne	30 Dec 1828	Richmond & Henrico	Revolutionary Pensions – Application filed on 30 December 1828, in Henrico County, Virginia, by nephew, Fabius Lawson. One document in this application is statement from William Duval, filed in the City of Richmond, 16 December 1826, which stated the he certified that he was well acquainted with Captain Claiborne Whitehead Lawson and his brother Lieutenant Benjamin Lawson, that they were officers in the Virginia Line about the year 1776. That Claiborne was promoted to Captain in Colonel Richard Parker’s First Virginia Regiment, was in the battles of Stony Point and Buford’s Defeat, in the last named one he was mortally wounded and died in 1780.Fabius Lawson was trying file as heirs of an Officer and/or Soldier of the Revolutionary Army who were slain by the enemy and had not received land from the United States. The application does not say if he was successful.
