Benjamin Lawson, deceased late of Prince George County, VA, empowered his executors to sell certain lands in his possession and directed them to lay out 100 pounds of money from such sale for purchased of other lands and to convey such land to his sons, William and Claiborne Lawson, reserving to the aforesaid Elizabeth, his wife, for life, the use and occupation of lands to be purchased for his sons. After her death, land was to be vested in Claiborne Lawson and his heirs. Therefore, for 60 pounds, David Greenhill and Wood Jones, executors of his will, purchased from Alexander and Joanna Howard of Amelia County for the said Elizabeth and Claiborne Lawson 196 acres on Sweathouse Creek as shown on deed dated 27 November 1757. Consideration: Love and respect for his sister Catharine, wife of Thomas Williams and 5 shillings. Negro slaves: Milley, Ned, Polly, King, Isham, Phil, Elly, Bett, Silvia, Amos, Kit, Lucy and Moses. Thomas Williams by virtue of his intermarriage with Catharine Greenhill, daughter of David Greenhill deceased, and sister to the above mention Paschall Greenhill, was put in possession by David Greenhill, father of the said Catharine, the aforementioned slaves. These slaves were the dower slaves of Elizabeth Greenhill, deceased, mother of the aforesaid David and held in consequence of her marriage with Paschall Greenhill Sr., late of King William County, VA. He died before he actually possessed the slaves and they became the property of Paschall Greenhill as the lawful heir of his grandfather, Paschall Greenhill. Desirous of fulfilling the will and intent of his father, David Greenhill, deceased, he makes over these slaves to his sister’s husband, Thomas Williams. Witnesses: Ro. Lawson and John Johnston. Listed as a Captain and that his brother Benjamin was a Lieutenant. Fabius Lawson applied for Claiborne’s warrant and stated he was a nephew and heir. |

Dated 23 June 1819. Consideration $1. Maxey is indebted to Henley in the amount of $32 due by bond dated 17 March 1819 and wishes to secure payment. He therefore conveys to Lawson in trust, the following property; one feather bed and furniture and one cow. If the debt is not paid when due the property may be sold at public auction and the proceeds used to satisfy the debt. Witnesses: E. Gill, John Robertson and John Sudbury. Proved 22 July 1819 by 2 witnesses and continued. |

He was allowed 200 acres of bounty land on Warrant No. 1225, on account of the services of his father Benjamin Lawson, Lieutenant, Virginia Line, War of Revolution, 1 March 1827. Also indicated Benjamin was the brother of Claiborne Whitehead Lawson. |
