George &c, To all &c, know ye that for desires good causes and consideration but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of forty Shillings of good and lawful money for our use, paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia, We have given, granted and confirmed and by these presents for us our heirs and successors do give, grant and confirm unto Jonas Lawson of Henrico County one certain Tract of Parcel of Land containing four hundred acres lying and being on the north side of James River on the Byrd Creek in the County of Henrico aforesaid and bounded as followeth to wit:- Beginning at Andrew Mooreman’s corner on the Byrd, thence up the Byrd according to its meanders east twenty two degrees north, one hundred and ten chains to an ash and oak corner, thence east twenty three degrees south, one hundred and fifty two chains to a corner white oak, thence west twenty two degrees south, seventy chains to an oak corner, thence south thirty eight degrees west, eighty eight chains to a corner black oak, thence west twenty three degrees north, sixty one chains to a corner hickory on Mooreman’s line, thence on his line north thirty eight degrees east, sixty chains and west twenty three degrees north, one hundred and twelve chains to the beginning, with all &c, to have, hold &c, to behold &c, yielding and paying &c, provided &c, In Witness &c, Witness our Trusty and Well Beloved Robert Carter Esq. president of our Council and Commander in Chief of our said Colony and Dominion at Williamsburg under the seal of our said Colony the sixteenth day of June, one thousand seven hundred and twenty seven in the thirteenth year of our Reign. To all to whom these presents shall come, greeting, know ye that for desires good causes and consideration but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of twenty Shillings of good and lawful money for our use, paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia, We have given, granted and confirmed and by these presents for us our heirs and successors do give, grant and confirm unto Jonas Lawson one certain Tract of Parcel of Land containing two hundred acres lying and being adjacent to the Little Byrd on the north side of James River in the County of Goochland and bounded as followeth to wit:- Beginning at a poplar near the west side of the Little Byrd running thence on Charles Bond to a hickory thence a new line north fifty one degrees west, thirty eight and an half poles to a white oak thence on George Payne north forty four degrees east, one hundred and thirty six poles to pointers thence on Arthur Hopkins south forty five degrees east, two hundred and ninety five poles to a pine thence on Thomas Murrell south eighty eight degrees west, forty five poles to the Little Byrd and thence down the same according to its meanders to the first station, with all woods, underwoods, swamps, marshes, lowgrounds, meadows, feedings and his due share of all veins, mines and quarries as well discovered as not discovered within the bounds aforesaid and being part of the said quantity of two hundred acres of land and the rivers, waters and water courses therein contained together with the privileges of hunting, hawking, fishing, fowling and all other profits, commodities and hereditaments whatsoever to the same or any part thereof belonging or in any wise appertaining, to have, hold, possess and enjoy the said Tract or Parcel of Land and all other the before granted, premises and every part thereof with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Jonas Lawson and his heirs and assigns forever; to the only use and behoof of him the said Jonas Lawson his heirs and assigns forever, to be held of us our heirs and successors as of our Mannor of East Greenwich in the County of Kent in free and common soccage and not in capite or by knights service yielding and paying unto us our heirs and successors for every fifty acres of land and so proportionably for a lesser or greater quantity than fifty acres the fee rent of one shilling yearly to be paid upon the Feast of Saint Michael the Arch Angel and also cultivating and improving three acres part of every fifty of the tract abovementioned within three years after the date of these present provided always that if three years of the said fee rent shall at any time be in arrear and unpaid or if the said Jonas Lawson his heirs or assigns do not within the space of three years next coming after the date of these presents cultivate and improve three acres part of every fifty of the tract abovementioned then the estate hereby granted shall cease and be utterly determined and thereafter it shall and may be lawful to and for us our heirs and successors to grant the lands and premises with the appurtenances unto such other person or persons as we our heirs and successors shall think fit. In the Action of Debt between Richard Dean Plaintiff and Jonas Lawson Defendant the following Jury are Sworn, Henry Chiles, Thomas Christian, David Walker, John Prior, James Robinson, Charles Lynch, Thomas Bailey, John Laine, John Cox, Septhen Cox, John Biby and John Twitty who after sometime bringing their verdict which on the Plaintiff motion is admitted to Record and is as followeth. We find for the Plaintiff nine pounds, twelve shilling and six pence current money, Thomas Christian foreman whereupon it is considered by the Court that the Plaintiff do recover against the Defendant nineteen pounds, five shillings current money being the penalty of the Bond to be Discharged on the payment of nine pounds, twelve shilling and six pence like money by the Jurors assessed in their said Verdict assessed together with the Interest thereon after the rate of six per centum per annum from the nineteenth day of July MDCCXXXV (1735) till the same shall be paid with costs and a Lawyers fee.

Masscie’s, James Shelton’s, Thomas Stone’s and Jonas Lawson’s tithables do work on that Road and it is ordered that the Tithables without the Road are to be added to the Road of which Doctor Hopkins is Surveyor.

Thomas Owen of the County of Henrico sold to John Simkins of the same county for £35, one hundred and ninety acres of land on the North side of James River in Goochland County, Virginia. The land was adjacent to the corner of Phillips Webber’s land. It was witnesses by Michael Davies, David Anderson and William Witt. It was recorded in Goochland County Court, 20 September 1737. Elizabeth, wife of Thomas Owen relinquished her right of Dower.

To all to whom these presents shall come, greeting, know ye that for desires good causes and consideration but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen Shillings of good and lawful money for our use, paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia, We have given, granted and confirmed and by these presents for us our heirs and successors do give, grant and confirm unto David Lawson one certain Tract of Parcel of Land containing one hundred and fifty acres lying and being in the County of Goochland adjacent to the west side of the Little Byrd and bounded as followeth to wit:- Beginning at the Creek between a walnut and hickory and running thence on Jonas Lawson south forty five degrees west, seventy five poles to a white oak and red oak north forty three degrees west, two hundred and thirteen poles to a white oak the same course continued sixty two poles to a pine thence on John Cole, deceased, north eighty five degrees east, sixty eight poles to a white oak on the north side of a branch thence down the branch to the Creek and down the Creek according to their meanders to the first station, with all woods, underwoods, swamps, marshes, lowgrounds, meadows, feedings and his due share of all veins, mines and quarries as well discovered as not discovered within the bounds aforesaid and being part of the said quantity of one hundred and fifty acres of land and the rivers, waters and water courses therein contained together with the privileges of hunting, hawking, fishing, fowling and all other profits, commodities and hereditaments whatsoever to the same or any part thereof belonging or in any wise appertaining, to have, hold, possess and enjoy the said Tract or Parcel of Land and all other the before granted, premises and every part thereof with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said David Lawson and his heirs and assigns forever; to the only use and behoof of him the said David Lawson his heirs and assigns forever, to be held of us our heirs and successors as of our Mannor of East Greenwich in the County of Kent in free and common soccage and not in capite or by knights service yielding and paying unto us our heirs and successors for every fifty acres of land and so proportionably for a lesser or greater quantity than fifty acres the fee rent of one shilling yearly to be paid upon the Feast of Saint Michael the Arch Angel and also cultivating and improving three acres part of every fifty of the tract abovementioned within three years after the date of these present provided always that if three years of the said fee rent shall at any time be in arrear and unpaid or if the said David Lawson his heirs or assigns do not within the space of three years next coming after the date of these presents cultivate and improve three acres part of every fifty of the tract abovementioned then the estate hereby granted shall cease and be utterly determined and thereafter it shall and may be lawful to and for us our heirs and successors to grant the same lands and premises with the appurtenances unto such other person or persons as we our heirs and successors shall think fit. John Simkins	11 Aug 1744	Goochland	Goochland County, Virginia Deed and Will Book 4, 1741-1745, pages 380 and 381: – John Simkin of the Parish of St. James in the County of Goochland, deeded to Matthew Hutchason, of same parish and county, 190 acres, for 40 pounds, land being in the Parish of St. James in the County of Goochland, on the north side of James River on the lower side Broad Branch and bounded Phillips Webber’s, Charles Johnson’s, and Robert Adams’ lines. Witnesses were William Miller, Robert Allen and Giles Letcher. Dated 12 January 1743/44 and recorded 11 August 1744.
Jonas	Nov 1745	Goochland	Goochland County, Virginia Order Book 6, page 129, November 1745 Court, Goochland County – On the motion of Jonas Lawson a witness for Arthur Hopkins against Richard Brown, it is ordered that the said Arthur do pay him for three days attendants 70 pounds of tobacco.

David	13 Oct 1755	Goochland	St. James Northam Parish, Goochland County, Virginia, Vestry Book, 1744-1850 – 13 October 1755 Vestry Meeting, page 55, David Lawson and George Clowdas were appointed Processioners, to procession the lands beginning at Clowdas bridge on the upper side of Little Byrd Creek, to Straw Camp, to the County line and to Paynes Road.
Jonas Jr., Jonas Sr. & John Bostick	6 Nov 1759	Goochland	Goochland County, Virginia Deed and Will Book 8, 1759-1765, page 56: – To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that I John Bostick of Goochland County for divers good causes, viz. for five shillings current money of Virginia being in hand paid to me before the sealing and delivery here of but more especially for the love and good will favour and affection which I have and do bear toward my loving friend Jonas Lawson Junr. his heirs one certain tract or parcel of land containing two hundred acres, lying and being in Goochland County on the west side of the Little Byrd Creek and being bounded on the lines of Jonas Lawson Senr., George Payne and Capt. James Cole, it being the said Messuage Plantation and tract of land with the appurtenances unto the said Jonas Lawson Junr. his heirs and assigns to the only use and behalf of the said Jonas Lawson Junr. his heirs and assigns for ever and the said Jonas Lawson Junr. his heirs etc., for and not withstanding any act or thing by him the said John Bostick his heirs or assigns or any other person committed done or suffered shall or lawfully may forever hereafter have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the same and every part thereof with the appurtenances, without the lawfull lett molestation or eviction of him the said John Bostick his heirs or assigns or any other person whatsoever. Jonas	Dec 1759	Goochland	Goochland County, Virginia, Order Book 8, page 276, December Court 1759. Guy Smith, Plaintiff vs. Jonas Lawson, Defendant. This case went to a jury and they found the Defendant guilty in manner and form as the Plaintiff against him hath declared and they do assess the Plaintiff damages by occasion thereof to twenty-one pounds, thirteen shillings and eight pence. The court required the Defendant to pay the damages aforesaid, the Plaintiff cost and his Lawyer fees.On page 277, Jonas Lawson was also required to pay Thomas Cater and John Lee, who were witnesses for him, each two days attendance – fifty pounds of tobacco.

I commend my soul unto the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body to be buried in a descent manner after the discretion of my executor and as touching what worldly estate it hath please God to bless me withal I do give and dispose of in manner and form following. Inprimus/ I give and bequeath to my godson Jonas Lawson the son of David Lawson and Anne Lawson my two hundred acres of land whereon I now dwell situate to him and his heirs forever. Item/ I give and bequeath to my friend George Croudus my bed and furniture and all my pewter and one little chest to him and his heirs forever. Item/ I give and bequeath to my friend David Lawson after my just debts are paid all the rest of my estate both stock and household goods in any manner or sort whatever and I do likewise appoint and ordain my loving friend David Lawson my whole executor of all my whole estate. In witness where of I do hereby acknowledge this to be my last Will and Testament this twenty sixth day of December, one thousand seven hundred and forty nine. The last Will and Testament of John Bostick deceased, was presented in Court by David Lawson the Executor who made Oath thereto and the same was proved by the Oaths of James George and Thomas Poor, witnesses and admitted to record. And on the Motion of the said Executor, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form, James George and John Mosely entering themselves securities for the same.The Court also ordered that Joseph Pace, William Pace, William Johnson and John Pace or any three of them appraise the estate of John Bostick deceased and that his Executor do return an inventory thereof to the next court.

It being a tract of parcel of land lying and being in Goochland County on the branches of the Little Bird Creek whereon the said Jonas and David Lawson now live and dwell and being part of two surveys taken up and patented by Jonas Lawson Sr. and part of a survey taken upl and patented by David Lawson Sr. Bounded by the lines of Col. John Payne, George Cloudas, Thomas Massie, George Barelay and Jonas Lawson Jr. Signed Jonas X (his mark) Lawson Sr. and David X (his mark) Lawson Sr. Witnesses William George, John Britt, Obadiah Daniel, Jonas Lawson Jr. and George C (his mark) Cloudas. Recorded 17 November 1767 and it stated that Ann Lawson, wife of David Lawson Sr., being first privately examined, relinquished her right of Dower and was admitted to record.
